Why Fort Lauderdale Homeowners Choose Therma-Tru Windows & Doors

We provide independent Therma-Tru windows and doors repair and service throughout Fort Lauderdale, from Coral Ridge to Rio Vista to Tarpon River. As an independent Therma-Tru service provider, we are not affiliated with or authorized by the manufacturer, which means we answer to you, not to a corporate warranty department. We work on Therma-Tru entry doors, hinged patio doors, and insert windows, and we know the FrameSaver construction, Tru-Defense hardware, and AccuGrain finish challenges that salt air and hurricane exposure create here. Call (954) 280-4413 to talk through what your door is doing.

Homeowners in Fort Lauderdale choose Therma-Tru for a simple reason: fiberglass entry doors hold up better than wood in our humidity. Wood doors swell, rot, and bind within a few seasons of salt-laden air. Therma-Tru fiberglass slabs resist that. But the hardware, weatherstripping, and frames still take a beating, and when they fail, the fixes need to be done by people who understand how these doors are built.

Why Trust TruePane Windows & Doors for Your Therma-Tru Windows & Doors?

Our team has worked on Therma-Tru entry doors and hinged patio doors across hundreds of South Florida homes, from slab-on-grade ranches in Plantation to waterfront villas in Rio Vista. We have pulled more FrameSaver jambs apart, re-hung more fiberglass slabs, and corrected more AccuGrain finish problems than we can count. Dale Kessler grew up in the Sailboat Bend neighborhood of Fort Lauderdale, where his father spent weekends resealing jalousie windows and cursing the humidity, which is more or less how he ended up in the trade. He learned the fundamentals at McFatter Technical College in Davie before spending the better part of two decades working glass and framing in South Florida’s coastal corridor.

Here is the difference. A general handyman can tighten a hinge. We can tell you why a Therma-Tru Classic-Craft door is sagging on the latch side, whether the FrameSaver sill is wicking water into the bottom rail, and whether the hinge replacement should be OEM Tru-Defense or a heavier-gauge aftermarket equivalent. That kind of specific knowledge comes from working on these exact doors in this exact climate since 2008. We stand behind the work with a Done Right Promise and The Keystone Standard: both warranty layers registered in writing, durations stated, before the truck leaves the driveway.

The bottom line on trust is simple. If the pane is not true, the job is not done. That founding rule governs every Therma-Tru door we touch in Fort Lauderdale.

Common Therma-Tru Windows & Doors Problems We Fix in Fort Lauderdale

  • Delamination of the bottom rail on FrameSaver doors. FrameSaver is Therma-Tru’s rot-resistant frame design, but it is not indestructible. Repeated storm-driven water wicking from afternoon downpours soaks the bottom rail, and over time the fiberglass skin separates from the substrate. We see this most often on doors facing east or south without adequate overhang. The fix is removing the slab, drying the frame, and rebuilding or replacing the rail before the rot reaches the structural core.
  • Hinge sag on heavy fiberglass slabs. Therma-Tru fiberglass doors are dense, and when a top hinge starts to wear, the whole slab drops. We regularly see deadbolts missing the strike by a quarter inch or more, latches that will not engage, and weatherstripping torn from the misalignment. The Classic-Craft Mahogany Collection slabs are especially heavy and especially unforgiving on hinges. Replacing the top hinge with an OEM Tru-Defense hinge and re-shimming the jamb usually corrects the geometry.
  • Cracking of decorative glass caming from thermal expansion. Fort Lauderdale sun is relentless, and east-facing doors with decorative glass inserts take direct morning heat followed by rapid cooling. The caming that frames the individual glass pieces expands and contracts until it cracks. Once the caming splits, the insert loses its seal and moisture creeps between the panes. We replace the glass insert with an impact-rated equivalent rather than patching the caming.
  • Weatherstrip channel distortion on single-hung conversion kits. Older Therma-Tru doors and conversion window kits used vinyl weatherstrip channels that soften and warp after years of direct UV exposure. The channel distorts, the weatherstrip falls out, and the door starts leaking air. We replace the channel and weatherstrip with OEM Therma-Tru parts when tolerances matter, and route out the old channel cleanly so the new material seats tight.
  • Threshold cap separation and sweep failure on Smooth-Star doors. The Smooth-Star Fiberglass Entry Door is one of the most common Therma-Tru products in Fort Lauderdale, and its aluminum threshold cap takes abuse from foot traffic and salt air. Once the cap separates from the threshold, water runs under the door. We reset and seal the cap, and when the sweep is worn down to nothing, we replace it with an aftermarket impact-rated equivalent that often exceeds the original spec.

These are not rare failures. They are what happens when good doors live in a bad climate for fifteen or twenty years. If your Therma-Tru door is doing any of this, call (954) 280-4413 and we will tell you whether it is worth repairing.

Therma-Tru Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

We use OEM Therma-Tru weatherstripping, corner pads, and Tru-Defense hinges when tolerances matter. Those parts are engineered to the original dimensions, and substituting a generic hinge on a Classic-Craft slab is asking for a misaligned door six months later. For glass inserts and door sweeps, we often recommend aftermarket impact-rated equivalents that exceed original specs, especially since the original parts on a twenty-year-old Therma-Tru door were not built for today’s impact standards.

We repair rather than replace whenever the frame is sound and the slab is not compromised by rot. A FrameSaver jamb in good condition with a sagging slab is a hinge and shim job, not a demolition. We will not sell you a new door when three hours of honest work will fix the one you have. But if the bottom rail has rotted into the structural core, or if the slab has delaminated beyond repair, we will tell you that too, with a written line-item quote for the replacement.

Call (954) 280-4413 for an honest assessment, and we will put the options on paper side by side so you can see exactly what you are buying.

Our Therma-Tru Service Process - Step by Step

  1. 1
Diagnosis. We arrive, look at the door in context, and figure out what is actually failing. That means checking the slab alignment, the hinge wear, the weatherstripping condition, and the FrameSaver bottom rail for moisture. We measure the opening twice before we touch a tool. If it is not right on paper, it will not be right on the wall.
  2. 2
Repair or install. We explain what we found, what it costs, and what the repair will involve, in plain language. Whether it is a hinge replacement, a glass insert swap, or a full entry door install, we use OEM Therma-Tru parts where they matter and impact-rated aftermarket parts where they outperform.
  3. 3
Test. Every Therma-Tru door we service gets opened, closed, locked, and unlocked. We check the sweep against the threshold, the deadbolt against the strike, and the weatherstripping against the slab. If the door does not seal tight against a Fort Lauderdale afternoon downpour, we are not done.
  4. 4
Warranty. Before the truck leaves, we register both warranty layers in writing with durations stated. That is The Keystone Standard. We also back the workmanship with the Done Right Promise. If it is not done right, we make it right, no arguing.

Therma-Tru Products We Service & Install in Fort Lauderdale

We service and install the full range of Therma-Tru entry doors and hinged patio doors, including the Classic-Craft Mahogany Collection, the Fiber-Classic Oak Series, the Smooth-Star Fiberglass Entry Doors, and the Pulse Series Entry Doors. What Neighbors Say About TruePane Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★

"Two entry doors. Showed up when they said, second day was a half day like they said, and the painter they recommended confirmed the frames were dead plumb. The financing was explained in actual dollars, not a brochure."

JJanet R.
★★★★

"Storm door and a new back entry door. Small job, but they treated it like one that mattered. Screws in the hinges are stainless, the sweep actually seals, and the invoice matched the phone quote to the dollar."

VVernon H.
★★★★★

"Whole-house window replacement at 71 years old is not something you want to do twice. Dale walked the house himself for the quote. Crew was the same three men all four days, and the foreman knew every window by room."

PPat and Ray L.
★★★★★

"Eleven windows replaced in two days. The crew chief, Marcus, showed me the level on every single frame before they caulked it. My wife noticed the street noise was gone before I did."

RRonald P.
★★★★★

"Impact windows on the whole house. They handled the permit, the inspection, and gave me a folder with every approval number for the insurance company. My windstorm premium dropped enough to notice."

BBill T.
★★★★★

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."
