Andersen Window Installation: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide

Andersen window installation in Fort Lauderdale typically runs $450 to $1,400 per window installed, depending on the series and whether it’s a sash replacement or a full-frame job. We stock Andersen-compatible hardware, glass, and weatherstripping on our trucks, so most repairs and replacements happen in a single visit. The call usually starts the same way: a homeowner pushes a sash up, hears a dry scrape, and realizes the window hasn’t moved smoothly since spring. Humidity and salt air work on window parts year-round down here, and Andersen units are no exception.

If you’ve got an Andersen window that won’t seal, won’t stay up, or is letting water pool on the sill after a summer downpour, you’re dealing with a failed part, not a failed house. That’s the way to think about it. Windows are mechanical. Seals dry out, balances wear, rollers flatten. The frame is usually fine. The part is the problem, and the part can be replaced.

We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Andersen. What that means for you is simple: we install the right part for the job, at a price that reflects the part and the labor, not a corporate upsell.

Which Andersen Models This Applies To

Andersen builds several window lines, and the part that failed in your 200 Series double-hung is not the same part that fits a 400 Series casement or a Narroline from thirty years ago. This is where a lot of Fort Lauderdale homeowners get burned: they buy a bargain sash kit online, it arrives with the wrong jambliner profile, and now they’ve spent money on a part that doesn’t seat. We see this weekly.

Here’s what you need to match. First, find the Andersen unit sticker or etched number on the inside of the sash or frame, usually on a corner. The series (100, 200, 400, A-Series, E-Series, Narroline) tells you the hardware family. Second, measure the visible glass width and height to the nearest sixteenth. Third, look at the balance system or jambliner channel. Andersen uses a range of balance shoe profiles depending on the series and the window’s weight class. If the shoe is wrong, the window won’t hold or won’t lock. We measure every opening twice before ordering or pulling from stock, and that’s not a slogan. Dale Kessler grew up in the Sailboat Bend neighborhood of Fort Lauderdale, and he learned early that coastal windows fight back. “If it is not right on paper, it will not be right on the wall.”

On the OEM versus aftermarket question: Andersen OEM parts are well-built and carry the factory coverage, but they’re not the only option. Quality aftermarket balances, weatherstripping, and hardware from manufacturers we’ve used for years often match or exceed OEM durability for less money. What matters is honest disclosure. We quote it side by side, in writing, so you see exactly what you’re buying and which warranty layer covers it. We also stock parts for Pella, and PGT, but if it’s an Andersen window in the opening, we treat it as an Andersen job.

Signs Your Andersen Window Installation Is Failing

  • The sash won’t stay up (or creeps down). The balance system has lost tension or the shoe has slipped in the channel. In Fort Lauderdale’s humidity, older Andersen balances fatigue faster than they do in drier climates.
  • Condensation or fog between the glass panes. The insulated glass unit seal has failed. Once the seal goes, the window loses its insulating value and no surface cleaning will fix it. Salt air along the coastal corridor accelerates seal failure.
  • A draft you can feel with the window closed. Weatherstripping has compressed or torn. On Andersen units, this is often the bulb seal on the meeting rail or the jamb weatherstrip turning brittle from heat cycling.
  • Water on the interior sill after rain. The sill pan or weatherstripping has failed, or the window wasn’t pitched correctly at install. This is common in older Fort Lauderdale homes where original Andersen units predate modern flashing standards.
  • The crank spins without moving the sash (casement and awning). The gearbox in the operator has stripped, or the track is binding from frame movement. We replace the operator assembly, not just the crank handle.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

What you’ll pay for Andersen window installation in Fort Lauderdale depends on the style and the scope.

Job Type Installed Price Range Typical Timeline
Balance replacement (per sash) $140 - $260 1 hour
Weatherstripping replacement (per window) $95 - $180 45 minutes
Insulated glass unit replacement $280 - $520 1-2 hours
Sash replacement (matched to existing frame) $350 - $700 Same day
Full-frame window replacement $800 - $1,400+ 1-2 days

Every line-item price includes the part, the labor, and both warranty layers registered in writing before our truck leaves your driveway. That’s The Keystone Standard. It’s covered by our Done Right Promise, which means if it’s not done right, we make it right. No paperwork fights. No arguing.

DIY or Call Us?

There are a couple of things you can safely check on your own. Cleaning the track with a dry cloth and a vacuum, checking for loose visible screws on the hardware, making sure the weep holes on the sill aren’t blocked with sand or dead leaves. That’s about where I’d draw the line.

What I’d caution against is pulling a sash out of a jambliner, especially a double-hung with a balance under tension. The take-out clips on Andersen sashes can be stubborn, and if the shoe releases wrong, you’re holding a heavy pane with no control. That’s a spring under tension in an aluminum channel. We’ve repaired hands and replaced cracked glass for people who watched a YouTube video and got in over their head. If your window is sagging, leaking, or refusing to lock, call us at (954) 280-4413. We’ll bring the right part and the right tools, and the fix will be done before lunch.

What Neighbors Say About TruePane Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★

"Two entry doors. Showed up when they said, second day was a half day like they said, and the painter they recommended confirmed the frames were dead plumb. The financing was explained in actual dollars, not a brochure."

JJanet R.
★★★★

"Storm door and a new back entry door. Small job, but they treated it like one that mattered. Screws in the hinges are stainless, the sweep actually seals, and the invoice matched the phone quote to the dollar."

VVernon H.
★★★★★

"Whole-house window replacement at 71 years old is not something you want to do twice. Dale walked the house himself for the quote. Crew was the same three men all four days, and the foreman knew every window by room."

PPat and Ray L.
★★★★★

"Eleven windows replaced in two days. The crew chief, Marcus, showed me the level on every single frame before they caulked it. My wife noticed the street noise was gone before I did."

RRonald P.
★★★★★

"Impact windows on the whole house. They handled the permit, the inspection, and gave me a folder with every approval number for the insurance company. My windstorm premium dropped enough to notice."

BBill T.
★★★★★

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."
