• WinGuard aluminum frames with seized balance systems. The WinGuard line is the workhorse of PGT’s impact-rated catalog, and in homes within three miles of the Intracoastal, salt crystals work their way into the spring balance channels. The window gets stiff, then refuses to stay up. We pull the sash, clean the channel, replace the balance assembly with OEM-spec parts, and re-tension. No silicone spray half-measures.
• Spectrum and 7700 series with fogged insulated glass. PGT’s standard insulated units carry a good seal, but the constant expansion and contraction from Fort Lauderdale’s afternoon heat eventually separates the spacer from the glass. The first sign is a haze you can’t wipe off the inside. We order replacement IGs through PGT’s warranty channel when the unit is still covered, and through our glass suppliers when it isn’t. The door starts dragging, then scoring the track. We replace both rollers, clean the track, adjust the height so the door sits square in the frame, and test it five times before we call it done.
• Architectural grilles and SDLs with rattling muntin bars. Simulated divided lites (SDLs) are cosmetic bars mounted on the glass. The adhesive PGT uses can let go in humid summers, and the bar starts rattling every time the door closes. We remove the bar, clean the glass with a non-acidic solvent, and re-bond it with UV-stable adhesive that won’t yellow or turn chalky.
